Weekly Recrap

MitchellLet's start off by saying happy birthday to you, Nora. I would have been there to tell you in person, but I spent the majority of the day stuck inside a giant cake in the back of a truck that somehow got shipped to Oregon instead of Illinois. It seemed like a good idea, but it was definitely not my ideal way to deal with a hangover. I pulled a pretty late night at a wedding reception for some friends of mine. Friends that have spread themselves all over Kansas throughout the years came back to H-town for the occasion. It was like a family reunion, what with the reminiscing and the drinking and all.

What's new with you?

NoraThanks for the birthday wishes, Mitchell. I hope you made it to the Cascades when you got delivered to Oregon; it sure is pretty there this time of year. That was a mighty undertaking, and even though it's the thought that counts, seeing the look on everyone's faces when you burst out of the cake would have been a memory I would have cherished my whole life. You know, the older I get, the more my birthdays are about the three Fs: family, friends and food. I had an amazing dinner Friday, which I overblogged about on Saturday, my oldest friend made me dinner Saturday night, and tonight, my mom and dad came over and made me a deep-dish pizza. My in-laws came, as did my sister and her family. She brought the bubbly and chocolate covered strawberries. I could seriously blow up and die. I think I gained 31 pounds for my 31st birthday. Moo!

MitchellSounds like a lot of fun. If you think you're stuffed, imagine spending 13 hours inside a giant cake. I had nothing better to do than eat it.

Anyway, I found a new sport fix to help me get through this cold time of year with no football to watch. My friend's 8-year-old son is in a dodgeball league through the local YMCA. It's just a bunch of little kids playing, but damn is it fun to watch. There are some badass little kids playing.

NoraDodgeball is tons of fun; maybe I should play in order to work off my weekend of gluttony. I think I'm looking forward to getting back to normal life. Glad we could pull our shit together to recrap this weekend, Mitchell. Time seemed to get away from us last week, huh? I'll tell you what: I've come to the conclusion that the older I get, the faster time seems to go. Jeez, now I'm really wishing you hadn't been delivered to Oregon. I could really go for some cake.

MitchellGood God, I don't even want to think about food right now. It is good that we got a recrap in. Things got a little hectic for a while there and neither of us could really seem to get it together last week. We're back in the groove, though. So I think I'm going into diabetic shock. Or maybe it's the hangover, I don't know. Either way, I need to go lie down.
