Lotsa Shakin', No Breakin'

A few weeks ago, I went on a paranoid rant about the New Madrid fault line. Imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning to the breaking story about an earthquake in New Salem, Illinois. The outlets are tagging it as a 5.2 to a 5.4, but the temblor was big enough to feel all the way in Des Moines, Iowa, Indianapolis, Indiana and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Fortunately, there were no injuries and only minor damages. But it's big news, because as I said in that blog from weeks ago, Illinois just doesn't get the earthquake press California does. If you've been following SWC since we first launched in March, you might want to start looking to the sky. Perhaps my rant about asteroids wasn't so paranoid after all ...
